Four seasons ago, almost to the very day, the local cycling team of Willunga Hill (named for an infamous climb near where the manager grew up, and which now regularly forms a part of the RL Tour Down Under) opted to go pro and join the OCM world.
So far, we've entered 150 races for 22 results, including 8 wins, and nearly 1000 points. Now in Div 5, we will be racing our first tour in a week's time, though Hell on Wheels certainly isn't a route that suits the team's strengths.
Biggest Win: We have won a classic -- Zell am See in Div 8, won by Shane Austin in Season 36.
Biggest Success: Has to be the (admittedly too slow) training of Austin, who gained (after TT centering) a total of 200 points. An honorable mention goes to Bagoly Gabor, who was signed on to become a trainer, but still recorded 9 top tens in 17 races with winnings nearly covering his entire transfer fee.
Biggest Disappointment: Jimmy Weepu, the team's initial captain and the first person I trained, only gained 59 points before maxing. It has since been explained to me that he could max under the minimum 60 point threshold because he was the team's initial captain at start-up. Still, that sucked!
Records of Key Riders.
Jimmy Weepu -- 182 pts
Shane Austin -- 293 pts
Bagoly Gabor -- 134 pts
Helmer Rydberg -- 99 pts
Leon Ndleha -- 92 pts
Babatunde Madaki -- 132 pts
